BioAlex Trendler was born in Bridgeport, CT in the eye of Hurricane Gloria. He’s loved big storms ever since. With gypsy heritage, traveling is in his blood. It’s not uncommon to see him in the dining car of a cross country train – leather jacket, scotch on the rocks, and a beat-up, coffee stained notebook. Alex studied acting for three years in New York before moving to Florida to complete a degree in Philosophy, but his real education has come from his time spent exploring the people and back streets of dozens of cities and countless small towns around the world.
Alex’s stories reflect a mood and a mindset acquired from years of searching and moving on. They show a life that knows Greenwich Village in the rain, Central Park in the snow and long skies over Philadelphia. A life made of train rides, saying goodbye and the way ashes can pile up in a foreign bar as each cigarette brings a memory back from the dead. His characters are despondent, degenerate con-men and thieves – each story is a journey through complex deceptions and personal struggles with uncertainty.
Though most stories are resonant of a darker or estranged way of life, there is a whit and ironic brightness to his fiction. You will find yourself rooting for the bad guy and taking comfort in madness. His essays are a precise exploration of human reactions to conflict. Everything from this author echoes with questions of altruism and identity, personal freedom and the subconscious, morality and utopian ideals. Rationality is a pipedream. Trendler’s work invites you to explore the refuge of dementia and unbalance. Enjoy.
